When auditing new systems the objectives should be to verify:

- Understanding - Is the system and supporting documentation understood
by those who implement and control it?
- Practicality - Is the system and supporting documentation practical
as a means of controlling the activities for which they were composed?
- Compliance - Is the system and supporting documentation being implemented
and adhered to correctly and consistently?, and
- Effectiveness - Are corrective measures being taken to address system
deficiencies?
